Mali is certiain the pearl of West Africa, and whilst is can inspire any visitor for weeks travelling it is possible to discover what Mali has to offer.
Mail does not have a developed tourist infrastruture, so a degree of flexibility is required to fully appreciate the tour. Mali time work at its own pace, and we all have to adapt to it! The tour can be hot and dusty at times - but very rewarding at all times.
Tour Itinerary
Day 01: Accra
Arrive Kotoka Airport. Transfer to hotel. Day free for leisure. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 02: Accra
Breakfast at the hotel. Full day tour of Accra city Overnight at the hotel.
Day 03: Cape Coast
Breakfast at the hotel. Travel to Cape Coast. Check into your hotel, Lunch provided. Overnight at the hotel. Day at leisure
Day 04: Cape Coast Castle – Elmina Castle
Breakfast at the hotel. We start our day with Cape Coast Castle tour, then to Kakum Park. Depart for a drive to the Central Region to tour the infamous Forts, Castles and Slave Dungeons of Ghana. History will unfold the story of the slave trade which the impact is still felt beyond the shores of Africa today.
Day 05: Cape Coast – Kakum Park Tour of historic Denkiyra Kingdom to Kakum Park
Early morning departure for a drive through the historic Denkyira Kingdom to Kakum National Park, one of West Africa´s surviving tropical rain forests. Extending over 360sq km, Kakum is the home to over 40 large mammals and 400 bird species as well as many species of butterflies, flora and fauna.
Day 06: Ashanti Region - Kumasi Early morning departure to Ashanti Empire to Explore
Breakfast at the hotel. check out and depart to Kumasi, the seat of the Ashanti Empire to explore the legends of the famous Ashantis, whose legacies are still evident today.
Day 07: Kumasi Ahanti Craft Village
Ahwiaa, the wood carvers´ village, Ntonso, the home of Adinkra and Bonwire, the Kente weaving village. You will have the opportunity to see how African crafts
Day 08: Kumasi - Accra
Breakfast at the hotel. Tour to morning half day city sights, then return back to Accra. We stop on the way for lunch. Evening meal at Hotel
Day 09 & 10: Accra - Togo - Benin - Mali
After breakfast at hotel, leave Accra for Benin, visiting Togo in the process and staying in Benin before departing for Mali.
Day 11: Arrival in Bamako, Mali
Arrive in Bamako in the evening; to hotel transfer; overnight in Bamako (Grand Hotel, or similar)
Day 12: Bamako - Timbuktu
Transfer to the airport for early morning flight to the legendary city of Timbuktu, gateway to the Sahara Desert; city tour: see the old mosques (built in the 14th century) and former universities, the museum and the Ahmed Baba Institute archives of scholarly Islamic manuscripts, the explorers' houses, the city market which receives the azalaïs, the salt caravans from the desert; in the afternoon, excursion into the Sahara Desert by camel caravan to visit a Tuareg camp; return to and overnight in Timbuktu (Hotel Hendrina Khan, or similar)
Note: due to security concerns we do not go deep into the desert.
Day 13: Timbuktu - Mopti
Airport transfer for morning flight to Mopti, the Venice of Mali, nestled between the Niger and the Bani rivers; Mopti city tour: see the beautiful mosque, the fishing port, and the bustling market where many of Mali's cultural groups can be seen: Bambara, Bobo, Bozo, Dogon, Fulani, Tuareg and Songhay; enjoy a sunset sail on the Niger River in a traditional pirogue; overnight in Mopti (Hotel Kanaga, or similar)
Day 14: Mopti - Djenne - Mopti / Niger River
Excursion to Djenne on its weekly market day, when Djenne is at its colorful best; stroll around the market stalls, spread out before the magnificent Great Mosque, the world's largest mud brick architecture and one of Unesco's World Heritage sites; return to Mopti overnight (Hotel Kanaga, or similar)
Day 15: Mopti - Dogon country - Mopti
Day-trip to Mali's fascinating Dogon country; explore magnificent villages along the Bandiagara cliff, and see many examples of the unique traditional architecture and fetishes; option to witness a spectacular traditional Dogon mask dance; return to Mopti for overnight (Hotel Kanaga, or similar)
Day 16 & 17: Mopti - Segou
Visit the Farafina Tigne boutique and bead museum in Sevare; beautiful hand-made local jewelry is available for purchase; onward drive to Segou, with sightseeing en-route; in Segou, enjoy a sunset stroll along the banks of the Bani River, as you browse through the pottery market; overnight in Segou (Hotel Independance, or similar)
Day 18: Segou - Bamako
City tour of Segou, Mali's colonial administrative center; also visit Sekoro village, the "old Segou" and former capital of the Bambara kingdom; see the tomb of King Biton Coulibaly; return drive to Bamako; overnight in Bamako (Grand Hotel, or similar)
Day 19: Bamako - final departure
Bamako city tour: visit the National Museum, the city market, the artisans' village, the fetish market for traditional medicine; in the evening, transfer to the airport for your final departure

Though hot and dusty at times, the rewards of such a tour are substantial. Tourist infrastructure is unpredictable of these places, Venture Travel try our best to give the best accommodation, but traveller should understand we are in Africa, therefore be flexible to accept the odd delay or change of plan, then the tour can be fantastic experience one of the trips to experience.

In the eventuality of a medical emergency, where possible Venture Travel will assist to be taken to a good hospital. Hospital bills are born by the patient, however in the event that client can not meet the hospital bills Venture Travel will contribute £500.00 which is payable by client on their return to the United Kingdom.
